Moscow home maven MaryJane Butters signs her new book on 'Glamping' in Clarkston

Glamour mates with camping in MaryJane Butters' newest illustrated guide to living, "Glamping with MaryJane."

Butters will sign copies of her book from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Costco in Clarkston. That signing will be followed by another from 2-2:15 p.m. at And Books Too, 918 Sixth St., Clarkston.

In her fourth book the Moscow Martha Stewart of the Northwest offers advice on how to shop for, fix up, hitch and tow a trailer. She explains how to pitch a tent and fix a flat. Outdoor cooking and pooping in style are covered and if all that leaves you parched there are instructions for throwing a glamping cocktail party. For those staying close to home there are guides to glamming up a backyard retreat, porch or rooftop.

Butters coined the term "glamping" years ago when she founded her Idaho canvas wall-tent bed and breakfast, which has since been featured in the New York Times Magazine, Travel & Leisure and elsewhere. This year she started International Glamping Weekend, an annual weekend dedicated to glamorous camping where prom dresses and chocolate are not uncommon.

Butters is a former wilderness ranger and environmental activist turned organic farmer and author. Her lifestyle magazine, MaryJanesFarm, is in its 12th year of publication.
