Festival Dance and Performing Arts presents Ballet Fantastique from Eugene, Ore., with a romantic and humorous version of the classic fairy tale, “Beauty and the Beast.” The company is traveling for the first time to the Palouse with a full stage production, impeccable costuming and a performance to entice young and old. Artistic Directors, the Bontrager's have chosen to portray the “tale as old as time” through its Russian folk roots. Based on Sergey Aksakov’s 1858 version, “The Scarlet Flower” the plot challenges traditional representations of women in fairy tales.
