Writer, scholar and indigenous language activist Beth Piatote will discuss her book “The Beadworkers: Stories” 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at the Williams Conference Center at Lewis-Clark State College. Piatote, an associate professor of comparative literature and Native American studies at the University of California-Berkeley, is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation and works in her heritage language of Nez Perce. This Native American Awareness Week activity is presented by the LCSC Native American Club, Idaho Humanities Council, Associated Students of LCSC, President’s Diversity Commission, Nez Perce Tribe, Pi’amkinwaas and Clearwater River Casino and Lodge.
