"Beyond The Wire"

Moscow Contemporary is honored to host the University of Idaho Prison Education Initiative’s “Beyond the Wire” exhibit of work by incarcerated persons. In 2015, President Obama launched the Second Chance Pell Grant Experiment, reinstating incarcerated student access to Federal Pell Grants. In summer 2022, UI received the opportunity to participate, beginning three degree programs in two Idaho Department of Corrections facilities and formally emerging as the Prison Education Initiative. In fall 2022, students completed their first semester of college. Please join us in celebrating these accomplishments through a vast array of artwork skillfully made behind bars. *** A benefit reception from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 11 features speakers from Idaho Department of Corrections, UI and returning citizens. Food and wine offered. Donations benefit the PEI Fund, a nonprofit funding line created through the University of Idaho Foundation.
