March 16
LEWISTON — The 10th annual Country Music Show benefiting the Community Action Food Bank will bring talent from around the region to the stage at New Bridges Community Church Hall here beginning at 7 p.m. March 16.
The show will include live performances by Shiloh and the Young Guns, Monte Garrison, Beargrass, Hal Olson and the 7 Devils.
Admission is $10 at the door, and the church is at 2102 Eighth St. Additional parking will be available at the Idaho State Veterans Home across the street from the church hall, and a bus will be available to shuttle concertgoers to the venue.
All proceeds will go to the food bank.
March 17
CLARKSTON — The Seaport Striders’ 40th annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K and 10K Run starts at 10 a.m. March 17 from Granite Lake Park here.
Check-in and same-day registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the park, 848 Port Way.
Both distances of the race, which will be chip-timed, will be run along the Greenbelt Trail System, and also finish at the park.
Cost is $15 for the run only, or $30 with a T-shirt (availability not guaranteed).
March 18
UNIONTOWN — The spring performance by members of the Palouse Country Cowboy Poetry Association, “Celebrate the Green,” will begin at 2 p.m. March 18 at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn here.
The event will be a St. Patrick’s Day program, and also will feature Western music. Cost is $10 at the door.
Performers scheduled to appear include Dave Nordquist, Orvil Sears, Slim Dewitt, Gene Buchholtz, Jim Aasen, Hal Olson, Donna Gwinn, Eric Larson and John Stelzwer.
Members of the association, formed in 1995, have performed twice a year at the barn since it opened. The group now numbers about 40.
March 20
MOSCOW — Jodi Marie Fisher of Moscow will release copies of her two new books March 20 as well as perform a childrens’ concert from 6 to 8 p.m. at One World Cafe.
One book, “My Blue Mariposa,” is a bilingual children’s book about love, acceptance, flowers and Costa Rica. Illustrations are by Ruth Angulo, a Costa Rican artist.
The other book, “Flowers Coloridas,” is a bilingual flower photography book.
Fisher was raised in Moscow, and several other performers will join her in singing and playing a variety of acoustic music.
After the release event, the books also will be available for purchase at BookPeople of Moscow, Little Shop of Florals and Hansel & Gretel, all in downtown Moscow, and on Amazon.com.
Also planned Tuesday evening are a coloring contest and reading.
March 21
LEWISTON — Steven Branting will give a talk about athletics at Lewis-Clark State College beginning at 3:30 p.m. March 21 in Room 112 of Sacajawea Hall on the Lewiston campus.
Branting’s free talk, titled “Blood, Sweat and Cheers: Lewis-Clark State Athletics (1898-1970),” is part of the college’s 125th anniversary celebration taking place this year. The college was founded in 1893.
Branting, a Lewiston historian and author, is a retired educator. He will discuss how early Lewiston was a town known for its sporting activities, according to a news release.
