The discussion will center on “A Whisker of Trouble” by Sofie Ryan.

WEIPPE — The 16th annual Weippe Camas Festival, featuring a theme of “Living Through the Fire,” will be held May 27-28 with events planned in the city park and community hall.
The schedule for the two-day festival includes:

-- 3 p.m. — Dutch oven cook-off, Weippe Mini Park
-- 5 p.m. — Dutch Oven Dinner, Weippe Community Hall
-- 7 p.m. — “Living Through the Fire,” musical drama about the fires of 1910 staged by the “On the Road” touring group of the Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, community hall
May 28
-- 7-10:30 a.m. — breakfast, community hall
-- 8:30 a.m. — Retreat to Weippe fun run/walk, (sign up from 7-8:20 a.m. at the park)
-- 9 a.m.-3 p.m. — silent auction
-- 9 a.m.-4 p.m. — craft and food vendors open
-- 11 a.m. — horseshoe tournament signup
-- 11:30 a.m. — Live music by Wayne Worthern of Nampa, Idaho, and Logan Colegrove of Bozeman, Mont. (continues in the park throughout day)

DAYTON, Wash. — Mule Mania, which features a free series of competitions celebrating the mule, will take place May 27-29 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds here.
Mule competitions in a variety of categories will take place in the fairgrounds arena while vendors will be set up around the fairgrounds. The event is held concurrently with Dayton Days, which is Saturday.

-- 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. — Boldman House Museum, families can experience daily life from the early 20th century

PULLMAN — “To Shine Almost Forever: The Incredible Lives of Stars” is the title of the first show of the summer season at the Washington State University Planetarium here May 27 and 29.
The show, which features a description of stars from birth to death, begins at 7 p.m. May 27 and 5 p.m. May 29 in the planetarium at 231 Sloan Hall on the WSU campus.

LEWISTON — Steven Branting of Lewiston, a historian and author of four books about Lewiston, will sign copies of his books from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 28 at the Owl Southway here, 720 16th Ave.
Branting is author of “Historic Firsts of Lewiston, Idaho: Unintended Greatness,” “Hidden History of Lewiston,” “Lost Lewiston: Elegies and Bygone Places” and “Wicked Lewiston: A Sinful Century.” He is a retired educator.
