Volunteer sign-up is open for the Pullman Chamber and Visitor Center’s annual Fourth of July Celebration.
Volunteers are needed to serve beverages and cotton candy, help with parking and clean up afterward. More information and registration is at bit.ly/PullmanFourthVols.
The event starts at 5 p.m. July 4 at Sunnyside Park.

Submissions are due by 5 p.m. Aug. 1 for published poets 18 and older interested in becoming Moscow’s next poet laureate.
The city of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission have put out the call for poets who live in Moscow and “have a record of community involvement and/or teaching” to apply.
The poet laureate’s term is from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2027, with an annual honorarium of $1,000 paid at the beginning of each service year.
The program, launched in 2015, has included three poets: Tiffany Midge, 2015-18; Susan Hodgin, 2018-21; and Stacy Boe Miller, 2021-24.

Artists 18 and older have until Sept. 4 to sign up for Moscow’s annual Palouse Plein Air outdoor painting event and juried exhibition.
Participating artists paint between Sept. 8-16 at any outdoor location they choose in Latah, Nez Perce, Whitman and Benewah counties. Then the exhibition opens with an artists reception and awards ceremony from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Third Street Gallery inside Moscow City Hall.
All painting media are eligible, including gouache, watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastel. Walt Disney Company animator, director and fine artist George Scribner will be the juror.
