Area libraries are gearing up for this years Everybody Reads program. This years book is Painted Horses, by Malcolm Brooks, who will visit the area for discussions Nov. 7-10.
Painted Horses is set in 1956 Montana where a young archaeologist has one summer to prove there is nothing of historical value in a canyon soon to be filled by a major dam project. Within the canyon she finds a fugitive, a veteran of the U.S. Armys last mounted cavalry campaign, who opens her heart to the mysteries of the past.
Books are available for check-out at area libraries. People are also invited to enter this years Everybody Writes essay contest where the theme is to write about a sacred place. Entries are due Oct. 22. First prize is a Kindle Voyage. More details are available online at www.everybody-reads.org.
