Everybody Reads "Painted Horses" author to visit area in November

Area libraries are gearing up for this year’s Everybody Reads program. This year’s book is “Painted Horses,” by Malcolm Brooks, who will visit the area for discussions Nov. 7-10.

“Painted Horses” is set in 1956 Montana where a young archaeologist has one summer to prove there is nothing of historical value in a canyon soon to be filled by a major dam project. Within the canyon she finds a fugitive, a veteran of the U.S. Army’s last mounted cavalry campaign, who opens her heart to the mysteries of the past.

Books are available for check-out at area libraries. People are also invited to enter this year’s Everybody Writes essay contest where the theme is to write about a sacred place. Entries are due Oct. 22. First prize is a Kindle Voyage. More details are available online at www.everybody-reads.org.
