Uploaded by hanat
W.S.U. jazz pianist and music professor, Jake Svendsen, presents an evening of jazz piano improvisation in a modern trio setting, featuring faculty David Bjur on bass and Darryl Singleton on drums. The pieces performed are drawn from the early to middle period of jazz music’s history, and include the 1926 popular standard, "Bye Bye Blackbird", the 1938 Hoagy Carmichael ballad, "The Nearness of You" and the intricate and unique bebop compositions of Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk. This is a concert of ballads, bebop and blues in original arrangement by Professor Svendsen.
