With the Artisans at the Dahmen Barn Holiday Gift Gala taking place a couple weeks earlier than usual, it’s an opportunity to get ahead on your holiday giving.

Saturday, those looking for locally crafted and produced gifts can peruse one-of-a-kind products from the barn’s resident artists and a wide range of items created by regional vendors. The gift shop will offer an expanded selection of specialty foods for the holidays, including Pasta Mama’s pasta, made from locally produced flour from Shepherd’s Grain; Papa Ray’s scone, pancake and biscuit mixes; and specialty seasonings from Washington State University, according to Julie Hartwig, who organizes the event and manages the barn’s gift shop.

A new feature at this year’s event is a make-and-take ceramic ornament table, hosted by Rosalie Wold, the new children’s ceramic instructor. All ages are invited to make one clay ornament free of charge, with the intention that these ornaments will be given to someone in need of holiday cheer. An additional ornament may be made with a donation to the children’s ceramic program.

Soups, breads and sweets will be available for purchase. The foods are all featured in one of two Artisan Barn cookbooks, which will be available for purchase.
