Robbie Paul will share her family’s journey of researching and discovering three generations of the Jesse Paul, Ka-khun-nee (Black Raven) family story, tracing back to pre-Carlisle Indian Industrial Boarding School to great-great-grandfather Chief Ut-sin-malikan, who was born in 1793. The U.S. government established Native American boarding schools across the United States beginning in the late 19th century to assimilate Indigenous youth into mainstream American culture through education. Nez Perce National Historical Park’s Spalding Visitor Center is located 12 miles east of Lewiston at 39063 U.S. Highway 95.
