16th Annual Haunted Palouse
What: For ages 12 and up, haunted tours of two buildings, the Newspaper and Printing Museum and the Old City Fire Station. Other attractions include the Haunted Hay Ride, fortune telling and spooky street vendors. The event benefits Palouse community projects. When: 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Oct. 27-28 Where: Downtown Palouse
Oktoberfest 2017
What: German food, live music by the Auf Gehts German band, dancing, silent auction and raffle, with beer and wine available for purchase. When: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday Where: 1912 Center. 412 E. Third St., Moscow Cost: $15 adults, $10 students, $7 children ages 4-12, ages 0-3 free. Cap for immediate families $45. Tickets available at the door.
Spooky Science
What: Explore science through hands-on activities like making slimy sand, learning about blood, bones, static electricity and more. When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Where: Palouse Discovery Science Center, 950 N.E. Nelson Ct., Pullman Cost: $7.50 ages 16 and up, $6 children ages 2-15, $6.50 seniors age 65 and up
7th annual Paw-louse 5k Fun Run Walk and Octoberfest
What, When and Where: A 5K fun run and walk for runners and friendly dogs starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Sweet Avenue and Railroad Street in Moscow with prizes for first, second and third place finishers. Octoberfest, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Latah County Fairgrounds, will feature local beer and food, a pet costume contest, dachshund race and frisbee throw competition. Cost: Late race registration on site is $25 and includes a free drink token for Octoberfest. Admission to Octoberfest is $15 and includes two drink tokens and a raffle ticket. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of the Palouse.
Orofino Fall Festival
What: Hay maze, petting zoo, pony races, bouncy house, face painting, games, crafts, pumpkin patch, cider, caramel apples, music, vendors and more. When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Where: Orofino City Park Cost: Free admission, $10 for 20 tickets for individual games and activities
