Hand-Woven Baskets by Lisa Kostelak

When Lisa Kostelak takes a walk in the woods, she’s on a foraging mission. The Colville, WA, basket maker incorporates numerous natural and indigenous materials in her hand-woven creations, ranging from cedar bark to rushes, from willow branches to dandelion stems. The resulting baskets are elegant and organic, their colors and shapes reflecting 35 years’ worth of weaving skill on Kostelak’s part. Wenaha Gallery is featuring an array of the basket maker’s work in an Art Event through May 17.
