Be a steward of Idler's Rest Nature Preserve! On Saturday April 9th we will be planting Larch and White Pine on an area of the preserve that has lost a significant amount of canopy. We may also clear small gaps in the brush/understory so that seedlings will receive more light. During this event we will talk about resilient landscapes, fire ecology, and conservation. If you are interested in conservation, forestry, or sustainability this could be a great service-learning opportunity for you!
The work we do at these events will create a legacy, establishing young trees that will mature to old growth, improving habitat and the resiliency Idler's Rest Nature Preserve. The trees you plant will never be harvested, and they will be a gift for generations to come!
