This conference offering online and in-person events by University of Idaho Extension and Rural Roots focuses on pollinators and their habitats on the Palouse and beyond. It begins at 10 a.m. March 1 at the Latah County Fair and Event Center Main Room with Neal Williams' presentation, “Impacts of pesticide and resource stressors on wild bees: multi-scale approaches for mitigation.” * Williams also will present a 6 p.m. keynote at the Bruce Pitman Center at the University of Idaho, "Linking bees, pollination and people: pollinator habitat design to benefit biodiversity and pollination in working landscapes." Williams is visiting as a UI College of Agricultural and Life Sciences distinguished speaker. *
Registration is at: pollinatorsummit2023.eventbrite.com. Further instructions will be sent for in-person and the online Zoom option to all who register. Workshops will not be offered via Zoom.
* The summit will include a “Pollinator Expo” on March 1 with table displays from nonprofits and businesses with pollinator habitat information and products.
* Presentations on March 2 begin at 10 a.m. The summit will close that evening at 7 p.m. with a showing of a TED Talk, "Why are the Bees Disappearing?" at the Kenworthy Performing Art Center, 508 S. Main St. Doors open at 6:30. The event is free, but donations will be accepted at the door to cover the costs of the event.
