Our traditional approach to criminal justice is premised on the idea that there exists an appropriate punishment to fit a particular crime. Restorative justice processes offer an alternative response that can contribute to the healing and strengthening of communities as people directly affected by criminal behavior look for solutions that go beyond confinement and fines. This program, the second in a series of three, will describe various restorative justice practices and offer examples of how those processes have been used in Idaho in a variety of contexts.
