Ron McFarland

Ron McFarland, Idaho’s first Writer in Residence, will read some of his writings as part of the LC State Humanities Division’s Visiting Writer Series. In 1984, McFarland was named as the state’s first Writer in Residence, which represents the highest literary recognition in the state. Those who hold the position embody exceptional quality in their field. McFarland is a poet and a University of Idaho professor emeritus. He has published numerous books, written more than 600 poems, edited many poetry and critical anthologies, contributed to more than 60 professional journals and written more than 30 book reviews, 30 essays and 50 short stories. His most recent book is “Professor McFarland in Reel Time: Poems and Prose of an Angler” (2020). McFarland will have copies of his books available to purchase and sign.
