Theater companies from Moscow, Pullman and Clarkston will produce six one-act plays March 24-26 at the Spring Theatre Festival in Pullman.
Tonight - “Map of My Kingdom” and “Vang: A Drama About Recent immigrant Farmers,” is performed by the University of Idaho Vandal Theatre Lab. Passing along the family farm is the theme behind “Map of My Kingdom” where a lawyer in land transition disputes shares stories of land successions -- good and bad. The play was written by Iowa’s poet laureate Mary Swander.
“Vang” is a series of stories about recent American immigrants with projected photos by Pulitzer Prize winner Dennis Chamberlin. Both plays are directed by UI professor Matt Foss and feature L.A.-based actress Cora Vander Broek.
Friday - Strangers connect in different situations in the Moscow Community Theatre production of “All in the Timing,” by David Ives, directed by Matt Maw. Actors in the two acts are Ross Gibson, Liz Bixler, Doug Brandt and Char Fluster. The Pullman Civic Theatre follows with “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” an intimate collection of stories by Nora and Delia Ephron featuring five women delivering monologues on relationships and wardrobes. It is directed by Kami Cornwall and features Echo Cornwall, Lynn Flehrarty, Char Fluster, Chloe Haugen and Carolea Webb.
Saturday - Clarkston’s Abuzz Theatre Company presents “Doubt, a Parable” where the principal of the fictional St. Nicholas Church School - a rigid, conservative, mistrustful nun - is pitted against the beloved and progressive parish priest who may or may not have had sexual contact with a student.
