Queer histories in the American West are currently severely underrepresented. This new play, based on interviews archived in the Gay Rodeo Oral History Project, aims to advance the cause of tolerance and understanding, and restore the rightful place of individuals silenced or altogether absent from the traditional narrative of the American West. In this unique theatrical form, the actual words of the everyday heroes of Gay Rodeo are brought to life using a theatre-making technique commonly referred to as ‘verbatim’ or ‘documentary’ theatre.
