"The Art Theater Movement: The Spectators and 1960s Shinjuku Culture"

University of Idaho postdoctoral fellow of Asian cinema and media Yuta Kaminishi will introduce his current research on the role of cinema in Japanese counterculture, for this talk focusing on a site-specific movement and its spectators: the Art Theater Guild and cinephile culture in 1960’s Shinjuku. Dr. Kaminishi's presentation, one in the IAI-ORED Asia Research Brown Bag series, will be held in the Integrated Research and Innovation Center, room 305.
