Tamara Reily Uploaded by Wenaha Gallery
Black Horse Beaded Bag
Using traditional materials and techniques, bead and leatherworker Tamara Reily creates indigenous-themed artwork that takes the viewer to a different time and place. Drawing upon her Pawnee ancestry, the Dayton, WA, artist makes pipe bags, medicine bags, gathering bags, turtle rattles, beaded buck horns and more from crow, seed, and delica beads; hornpipe, brain-tanned leather, and deer or caribou antlers. Reily has been beading for more than 40 years.
