The University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton School of Music will host its third annual guitar week with concerts Tuesday and Wednesday featuring Alexander Dunn and The Contenders in the Haddock Performance Hall of the Music Building.
Dunn, a classical guitarist, will perform a program featuring Nocturnal and a lute suite by J.S. Bach. Dunn is a featured soloist with the Vancouver Symphony, Victoria Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra, New England Symphony and more. Dunn performs 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, The Contenders, a UI faculty ensemble, will play music from the 1950s through the 1970s. Faculty members include guitarist James Reid, percussionist Dan Bukvich, bassist Al Gemberling, keyboardist Jon Anderson, trumpet player Vern Sielert and saxophonist Vanessa Sielert.
Tickets for each concert are $5 for general admission and $3 for students and seniors.
