MOSCOW — The Palouse is celebrating diversity in the most fabulous fashion for this year’s 25th annual Palouse Pride festival in Moscow by hosting special guest and drag queen Delta Work, who was featured in RuPaul’s Drag Race Show.

Work will be a guest during Drag Bingo on Friday night at the 1912 Center and will perform during TabiKat’s Pride Drag Show on Saturday night at the Moscow Moose Lodge.

The weekend festivities include a march beginning at 11 a.m. on the corner of Second and Jefferson streets, followed by a festival, featuring music by local band Genius in Remission, food, vendors and drag performances, at East City Park.

Delta said celebrating diversity is just a small part of what pride stands for.

“The most rewarding thing is celebrating not only diversity but similarity,” Delta said. “We all want love and respect without qualification.”

Delta stresses the importance of pride festivals in small communities cannot be overstated, and they can help those who are struggling with acceptance.

“When you see people who are like you, you know you’re not alone,” Delta said. “For some people it is the only time and place where they can taste freedom, unity and a safe harbor.”

Delta said her look includes petticoats, cinched waists, “big boobs,” heavy perfume and bangle bracelets. She’s inspired by “over-the-top divas, bimbos and goddesses,” she said.
