This photo of LC State students Adriana Enriquez-Gonzalez and Ju Hyun Son standing in front of part of Idaho’s and Washington State’s contribution to the National Statuary Hall within the United States Capitol was taken by Leif Hoffmann on March 27, 2024. The students were exploring governmental institutions in Washington, D.C., with Professors Hoffmann and Wartel during spring break. The Hall is devoted to sculptures of prominent Americans, showing here Idaho’s first governor George L. Shoup and American physician and missionary Marcus Whitman.

Image: A beautiful Hummingbird Moth flitting from bloom-to-bloom on my hanging basket of Petunias. The photo was taken on September 19, 2023, at around 3PM. At first, I thought it was a very small hummingbird, until I moved closer and got a better look. The curled antennae gave it away. Other than that, the moth flies and feeds just like a hummingbird. What a delight to see!
