Artisans at the Dahmen Barn’s 16th annual Demonstration Day, set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1, celebrates “The Art of Textiles,” spotlighting 10 different crafts with experts on hand to show how they're done.
The nonprofit artists’ collective, at 419 N. Park Way, Uniontown, developed the free demonstration day to highlight the creative processes of regional people, with a different theme each year, according to a Dahmen Barn news release.
This year’s media include painting on fabric, block printing on fabric, crazy-quilt stitching, tapestry, weaving, lace making, leather art, felting and a crochet craft table for children, where kids can learn a simple chain stitch to make a bracelet. A blacksmithing demonstration will take place outside, weather permitting.
Several members of the Palouse Weavers Guild will be on hand sharing weaving techniques, and crazy quilter BJ Sandusky will demonstrate stitching and embellishments that make up her award-winning quilts. For those who catch the bug, Sandusky will be teaching a class later in April at the barn.
