April 18
Margrit von Braun of Moscow, a retired University of Idaho professor, will give a benefit lecture at 6:30 p.m. April 18 on the second floor of the Lewiston City Library, 411 D St.
Von Braun’s talk, titled “If We Can Put a Man on the Moon We Can Reopen the Liberty Theater,” is a fundraiser to benefit the nonprofit Liberty Theater Preservation Alliance, which aims to refurbish and reopen the Liberty Theater in downtown Lewiston. Donations will be accepted.
Von Braun was a professor in the UI’s College of Engineering, and the title of her talk is a nod to her
father, Wernher von Braun, a German-American rocketry scientist who worked on the Saturn rocket under the newly established NASA, and was instrumental in the rocket design that enabled the 1969 Apollo moon landing.
April 18-20
The Friends of Asotin County Library will hold a book sale April 18-20 at the library, 417 Sycamore St.
Hours of the sale are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
April 19
The fifth annual artAbility Showcase will be on exhibit from 5 to 7 p.m. April 19 at the Latah County Fairgrounds in Moscow.
The display will feature works by 23 artists who have disabilities. The artists will be present at the exhibit, and some will read original poetry. Artwork and greeting cards will be available for purchase by cash or check.
The showcase is organized by the Idaho Center on Disabilities and Human Development, and the fairgrounds are at 1021 Harold St.
April 19
The 29th annual Confluence Grape & Grain beer and wine tasting will be from 6 to 9 p.m. April 19 at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History in downtown Lewiston.
In addition to wine and beer tastings, the evening will include a silent auction, live music by Eric Goodwin and Shania Rales, and food by Jollymore’s.
Included with the purchase of a ticket are samples of six wines and microbrews in a souvenir glass. Additional tastes may be purchased at the event. Tickets are $35 if purchased by 3 p.m. today, and are $45 Friday. Tickets may be purchased by calling the center at (208) 792-2247.
Participating wineries are Basalt Cellars, Clearwater Canyon Cellars, Colter’s Creek Winery, Dumas Station Winery, Jovinea Cellars, Lindsay Creek Vineyards, Merry Cellars, Potter Wines, Two Bad Labs Vineyards/Tammany View Winery and Vine 46. Breweries include Hardware Brewing Company, Paradise Creek Brewery, and Riverport Brewing Company. Other Pacific Northwest wines and microbrews will be available as well, along with soft drinks and water.
Proceeds from the event benefit the center and the LCSC Business Student Organization’s scholarship fund.
April 20
A community contra dance, open to dancers and beginners of all ages, is April 20 at Moscow’s 1912 Center.
Under the Wire will provide live music for the evening while Nora Scott will be the caller.
Lessons in the folk dance, which features long lines of couples, begin at 7:30 p.m. The dance will be from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
Cost is $6 for Palouse Folklore Society members, $8 for nonmembers and $5 for first-time dancers. Children are admitted free.
The center is at 412 E. Third St.
April 22
The Lewis-Clark State College Jazz Band plays its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. April 22 in the Silverthorne Theater on the LCSC campus in Lewiston.
April 23
Cantus, an eight-member men’s vocal ensemble, will perform at 7:30 p.m. April 23 in the University of Idaho’s Administration Building auditorium on the Moscow campus.

Admission is $25 regular price, $20 for ages 60 and older, and $10 for students. A free ticket for youth ages 6-12 is provided with purchase of a regular ticket. Tickets may be purchased in advance at BookPeople in downtown Moscow.
Ensemble members are Jacob Christopher, Zachary Colby, Adam Fieldson, Chris Foss and Paul Scholtz, tenors; David Geist and Matthew Goinz, baritones; and Samuel Green, bass.
This is the final concert in this season’s Auditorium Chamber Music Series.
April 23-25
The Palouse Cult Film Revival, featuring screenings of four films, begins April 23 at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre in Moscow, and concludes with a presentation by actor Greg Sestero April 25.
Sestero appeared in one of the featured films, and co-authored a 2013 memoir titled “The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside ‘The Room,’ the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made.” The 2017 movie “The Disaster Artist” was based on the book.
All screenings begin at 7 p.m., and the festival schedule includes:
April 23 — Screening of “Sleepaway Camp” (1983, R)
April 24 — Screening of “Drop Dead Gorgeous” (1999, PG-13)
April 25 — screenings of “The Room” (2003, R) and “Best F(r)iends”
Sestero will attend the screening April 25, which also will feature a Q&A with the actor and an interactive script reading of “The Room.”
Admission cost for the first two nights are $5 each, while tickets for the finale are $15. Doors open at 6:30 each night for the screenings, which will feature audience participation, drawings and themed cocktails at a no-host bar. The center is at 508 S. Main St.
