MOSCOW — The worlds of architecture and technology merge at the University of Idaho’s Prichard Art Gallery here as Andy Behrle’s “hydrodome” exhibit opens Aug. 19.
A reception will from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 26 at the gallery, 414 S. Main St. The artist will give a talk at 5 p.m. Aug. 25 in Room 40, Teaching and Learning Center, UI. The digital video installation is on display through Oct. 23.
The display uses a three-dimensional geodesic dome as a full-immersion projection screen. People can step inside to be immersed in the display or watch the display from outside, according to a news release. This exhibit marks the premier of the Prichard’s new “Chamber Series,” where physical gallery space will be reconfigured to meet the requirements of artwork.
Behrle lives in the Yakima Valley and has exhibited extensively throughout the Northwest and nationally. This is the debut of “hydrodome,” which has been more than four years in the making. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
Aug. 19
LEWISTON — The Horse Crazy Cowgirl Band will bring their western music show to the Lewiston Elks Friday evening.
The three-woman band, specializing in harmonies, features Lauralee Northcott (bass), Jennifer Epps (harmonica and percussion) and Judy Coder (rhythm guitar). They were named “Group of the Year 2015” by the Western Music Association at its national festival in Albuquerque, N.M.
The event features an optional bite-size steak dinner from 5 to 7 p.m., with the music and dancing to begin at 7. It is open to the public. Cost is $25 for the dinner and show, and $15 for just the show.
Tickets are available at Rustebakke Veterinary Services in Clarkston and at the Elks.
Aug. 19-20
PULLMAN — The two-day 28th annual National Lentil Festival begins here Aug. 19 and will feature, among other things, live music, panel discussions and a parade. Oh ... and lentils.
Festivalgoers can enjoy bowls from the World’s Largest Bowl of Lentil Chili beginning at 5 p.m. Aug. 19 at Reaney Park, 690 Reaney Way. Live music will follow with three groups playing until 9 p.m.
Aug. 20 kicks off with the Tase T. Lentil 5K Fun Run, starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Pufferbelly Depot parking lot. The Lentil Pancake Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. in Cougar Plaza along Grand Avenue, and the Grand Parade will snake through downtown beginning at 11 a.m. Live music begins at noon, and the annual Legendary Lentil Cook-off begins at 3 p.m.

Aug. 19-21
KAMIAH — The three-day 40th annual Chief Lookingglass Pow Wow Celebration begins Aug. 19 behind the Wa-a’yas building here.
Because of last summer’s massive fires in the region, the 39th annual pow wow had to be delayed until October. Organizers are calling this year’s event “The Flames are Gone, We Stand Strong.”
Events begin with the memorial dinner at noon Aug. 19, followed by the opening flag ceremony. Grand entry of dancers will begin at 7 p.m.
Aug. 20 events include the Pow-wow Huckleberry Pancake Breakfast at the Wa-a’yas from 7:30 to 10 a.m. and the Lookingglass Fun Run also beginning at 7:30 a.m. The Friendship Feast begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the grand entry of dancers and royalty at 1 p.m.
The Chief Lookingglass Pow Wow Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. at Seventh and Main streets. Pow wow grand entry begins at 7:30 p.m. The grand entry Aug. 21 begins at 1 p.m.
Throughout the weekend, food concessions will be available as well as arts and crafts vendors.
Aug. 20
UNIONTOWN — Four-member bluegrass band Nu-Blu will play beginning at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn here.
The band hails from Siler City, N.C., and features husband-and-wife team, Daniel (guitar) and Carolyn (bass and vocals) Routh, along with Levi Austin (vocals and banjo) and Milom Williams II (mandolin). They most recently played in the region when they headlined June’s fourth annual Valley Bluegrass Festival in Lewiston.
Their latest album, “All The Way,” is released through Rural Rhythm Records and features the song “Jesus and Jones.”
Doors in Uniontown open at 6:15 p.m. and admission is $15. Snacks and soft drinks will be available for sale and Wawawai Canyon wine and beer may be purchased by those ages 21 and older.
The barn is at 419 N. Park Way.
Aug. 21
CLARKSTON — The annual end-of-the-season dog swim at the Asotin County Family Aquatic Center here is noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 21.
The event, sponsored by the Lewis-Clark Animal Shelter in Lewiston, is $4 per dog with humans getting free admission. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
A number of doggy events are planned, including an adopted dog parade, a costume contest and a water fetch contest.
The center is at 1603 Dustan Loop.
