May 6 and 8
PULLMAN — “Mercury Transit Preview and Meteor Strikes” is the title of the show May 6 and 8 at the Washington State University Planetarium here.
This planetarium show features astronomy of the here and now, and begins at 7 p.m. May 6 and 5 p.m. May 8 in Room 231, Sloan Hall.
Cost is $5 (cash or check only) regular price and free for ages 6 and younger. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Beasley Coliseum box office, online through TicketsWest.com or by phone at (800) 325-SEAT.

LEWISTON — An exhibit of works by 10 members of the Central Idaho Art Association opens May 6 at the Fourth Wall here, 832 Main St.
A reception, part of Lewiston’s First Friday, will be from 5 to 9 p.m. and feature appetizers and live music by Jordan Thornton of Clarkston.
Works are in a variety of media, including oils and acrylics on canvas.
The exhibit continues through May 27, and gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

CLARKSTON — “McCarroll Street Artists Show,” an exhibit by four artists all raised on the same street in Clarkston, will open with a reception May 6 at the Valley Art Center here, 842 Sixth St.
Works by Don Vowell of Keizer, Ore., Jane Prewett of Fort Worth, Texas, and Judy Fairley and Beth Rimmelspacher, both of Clarkston, will be shown in the exhibit through May 28.
A reception will be from 4 to 7 p.m. May 6 and features Fairley giving a scratch board demonstration.
The four artists grew up along Clarkston’s McCarroll Street. Fairley and Prewett are twin sisters who used to baby-sit Rimmelspacher. Fairley, Prewett and Vowell all went to school together.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
May 7
LEWISTON — Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 328 will hold an open house fly-in and drive-in from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at the E.A.A. hangar at the west end of the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport here.
A pancake breakfast will be available for purchase until 11 a.m.
Airplanes on display will include antiques, classics and homebuilt. Antique engines also will be on display, and a variety of hobby clubs will be present.
The airport is at 270 O’Connor Road.
May 7
CLARKSTON — The Senders will perform May 7 at the annual “Friends Appreciating Friends” concert at the Lewis-Clark Moose Lodge here.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with music to continue from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The free concert is for ages 21 and older, and donations will be accepted.
Members of the Senders are Hal Logan, vocals and drums; Jim Roberts, vocals and guitar; Jon Anderson, vocals, keyboard and guitar; and Mark Snodgrass, vocals and electric and upright bass. The band plays vintage rock from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.
May 7
PALOUSE — An exhibit of more than 100 paintings by the late Pullman artist Nicole Taflinger will be shown in an exhibit opening May 7 at the Bank Left Gallery here.
A reception will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the gallery, and the exhibit also will include works by other artists from Taflinger’s private collection.
Taflinger was raised in occupied France during World War II, and emigrated to the United States with her American husband following the war. The couple moved to Pullman in 1952, where she owned and operated the Nica Gallery for many years. She died Feb. 12.
The exhibit continues through June 18.
The gallery is at 100 S. Bridge St., and hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
