Sept. 1
COLFAX — Downtown Colfax is the site for a Harvest Party as part of the First Thursday series from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 1.
As part of the festivities, the Whitman County Library will staff a booth that features farm photos from around the county that are contained in the library’s Whitman County Rural Heritage online collection. The booth will also offer guessing games for all ages, prizes and a Farming Fact Sheet.
The downtown area also will feature music, vendors and a number of stores staying open until 6:30 p.m.
Sept. 1
MOSCOW — Will West and the Friendly Strangers, hailing from Portland, will play modern folk, pop and even some improv Sept. 1 at John’s Alley here.
Music begins at 9:30 p.m. and cost is $5.
West is originally from North Carolina but has called Portland home since 2002. The Friendly Strangers are a changing collection of musicians and for this tour, they are Skip vonKuske (cello, mandolin) and Don Henson (percussion). VonKuske is a founding member of the Portland Cello Project while Henson performs on a range of instruments, including xylophone, glockenspiel, bongos and a typewriter.
The band is wrapping up its third album, “Rain Song.”
Sept. 2-4
KAMIAH — The 80th annual BBQ Days here begins Sept. 2 and will feature food, music, games and a parade.
A spaghetti feed kicks off from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Kamiah Senior Center, 125 N. Maple St. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for ages 3 to 10 and free for ages 2 and younger.
Sept. 3 features a chuck wagon breakfast, a fun run, art show, crafts show and the grand parade at 1 p.m. on Main Street.
The highlight of the weekend and namesake of the festival is the free barbecue dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 3 on Idaho Street. A street dance with live music by Kicktoy will be held under the stars from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Sept. 3
ENTERPRISE, Ore. — The eighth annual Juniper Jam Music Festival is 1 to 10 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Wallowa County Fairgrounds here featuring live music on two stages.
Festival-goers will enjoy many styles of original music including folk, country, Americana, rock and blues, and the event also will feature food and drink, plus children’s activities.
This year’s lineup includes Lewi Longmire and the Left Coast Roasters, Ashleigh Flynn and the Porch Climbers, Will West and Groovy Wallpaper and Kory Quinn, all of Portland. The eastern Oregon band, Sum People, is a ska/reggae/rock band and Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs hail from Bozeman, Mont. Also playing is Mise and Tracy Spring.
Cost is $18 at the gate or $15 in advance at Joseph Hardware, Lear’s, the Bookloft, M. Crow & Co. or online at www.juniperjam.com. Children ages 12 and younger are admitted free, and gates open at noon.

Sept. 5
COLFAX — The annual Palouse Threshing Bee will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds along State Route 26 east of here.
Attendees can watch teamsters drive horses pulling combines to cut grain and pull it to the thresher to be unloaded and threshed.
A no-host lunch will be served beginning at noon in the fairgrounds community building.
Harvesting and threshing will continue in the field adjacent to the fairgrounds following the noon meal. Some bleacher seating is available for attendees.
The event is sponsored by the Palouse Empire Threshing Bee Association.
