When it comes to songs from Disney’s “Frozen,” there seems to be a primary call to action: “Let it go, let it go, can’t hold it back anymore.”
Kids — and even some adults — walked out of theaters singing when the movie released last November and, if you’ve been out in public lately, it seems they haven’t stopped. Fortunately (for them, though maybe not for all) they don’t have to: The Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre in Moscow is showing a sing-a-long version of “Frozen” beginning Thursday, May 22, and running through the weekend.
The movie is exactly like the version seen in theaters except the songs have subtitled words with a bouncing ball to help viewers-turned-participants sing along. That, and no one will kick you out of the theater for melodiously asking those around you if they want to build a snowman or for launching into a razzmatazz number speculating about the glories of summer.
“Come ready to sing, ready to have fun,” said Christine Cavanaugh, executive director of the Kenworthy. She adds that the audience is encouraged to come dressed in costume for the show.
Families have been excited about “Frozen” in general, Cavanaugh said. The movie has already been selected a couple times for private parties at the theater, so she anticipates a good turnout for the event.
Popcorn, candy and soda will be available for purchase at the concession counter. And yes, parents are asked to remain with their children, rather than sneak off for some “Frozen”-free silence.
People have a chance to win two tickets to the showing through the Kenworthy’s regular Friday Facebook Trivia contest. Every Friday at noon, a trivia question is posted on the theater’s Facebook page and the first person to answer the question correctly receives two free tickets to the weekend show. To compete for this or future shows, Cavanaugh said to “like” the Facebook page and watch for the question.
