Retired Grangeville dentist Allen Chenoweth and his wife Kim (pictured) commissioned this horseshoe elk sculpture which was installed May 26, 2015 at the entrance to Grangeville. The sculpture was created by Bud Thomas of Philomath, Ore. It contains some 600 recycled horse shoes, weighs about 600 pounds and is powder coated in bronze which makes it shine in the sunlight, according to Kim Chenoweth. She says the couple, "wanted to leave a piece of public art as a legacy to a community that has been good to us."
