MOSCOW-PULLMAN
Trick or Treat at the Dome is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Moscow. Vandal student athletes will be on hand for games and trick or treating in the south concourse of the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center with free parking in the west lot. Those who come in costume can get free admission for Vandal volleyball versus Idaho State in Memorial Gym at 7 p.m.
The ninth annual Animals of the Night takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute Nature Center in Moscow. People will experience the sights and sounds of the night as they move through stations featuring live animals, preserved specimens, sensory tables, crafts and more. Guest experts include the Washington State University Raptor Club, Idaho Fish and Game, WSU Entomology Graduate Student Association, and the Moscow Tree Commission. Costumes and flashlights are encouraged. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family. Member pricing is $4 per person and $15 per family. People can join as members at the door for $30 and get free family admission that night. Children age 2 and younger are admitted free.
Creepy illusions in the sky, disturbing mythology associated with constellations, and a dose of real danger from outer space is the focus of Cosmic Spooks at the Washington State University Planetarium Friday and Sunday. Friday’s show is from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday’s is 5 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door by cash or check. Children 6 and younger are admitted free. The planetarium is at 231 Sloan Hall on campus.
A Monster Bash Costume Contest and Dance for ages 18 and older starts at 8 p.m. Friday at the Best Western Plus University Inn in Moscow. DJ MacFie will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission is $10 per person. Advance tickets are available at the hotel’s front desk, Rosauers Supermarket, Dissmore’s IGA and Safari Pearl Comics in Moscow. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. The hotel is at 1516 Pullman Road, Moscow.
Henry C. & the Willards will play a free Halloween Benefit & Dance for Friends of the Clearwater Friday at the American Legion Cabin in Moscow. Costumes are encouraged. There will be a cash bar, snacks and fun for the family. Music is from 8 to 11 p.m. at 317 S. Howard St.
The 15th annual Haunted Palouse continues Friday and Saturday. The event is open to those ages 12 and older from 7 to 10 p.m. each night and features freaky food vendors, tours of two haunted buildings and a Haunted Hay Ride. Tickets are $20. Sales close at 10 p.m. each night.
Spooky Science is Saturday at the Palouse Discovery Science Center in Pullman. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. kids can make slime and conduct other experiments. There will be face painting and giveaways. Visitors are encouraged to come in costume. Admission to the center is $7.50 for adults, $5 for children ages 2 to 15, and $6 for seniors, 950 N.E. Nelson Court, Pullman.
The annual Ridenbaugh Haunted House is 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Ridenbaugh Hall on the University of Idaho campus in Moscow. Kid's Night is from 7 to 8 p.m. and Fright Night is from 8 to 11 p.m. Put on by Sigma Alpha Iota and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the event is an annual fundraiser in which all proceeds go to the Moscow Food Bank. Admission is one can of food or $1 per person.
A Halloween Contra Dance with live music by Spokane’s old time string band, the River City Ramblers, is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the 1912 Center in Moscow. Costumes are encouraged but not necessary. Free dancing lessons are at 7:30 p.m., with the dance from 8 to 10 p.m. Singles, families and beginners are welcome. Admission is $6 for members, $8 for non-members and $5 for first-time beginners.
A Halloween Party featuring area bands including Astronaut and the Trees, Mother Yeti and the Maple Bars starts at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at John’s Alley Tavern in Moscow, 114 E. Sixth St.
Costumed kids are invited to downtown Moscow's Trick or Treat from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday. More than 50 businesses will be handing out candy.
Eastside Marketplace in Moscow will have its Trick or Treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday.
Canyon Creek Church will hold its inaugural Trunk or Treat from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday in the parking lot at 417 S. Jackson St. in Moscow. The free event is open to kids ages 12 and younger and will include live music and more than a dozen vehicles decorated for the season with trunks filled with candy. Inside the church, families can enjoy carnival games, free apple cider and food. Kids should bring a bag to collect treats. The church is accepting donations of candy, apple juice, cider and snacks. Donations must be brought to the church in their original sealed packages by Sunday.
LEWISTON-CLARKSTON The third annual Pumpkin Patch in Lewiston offers a variety of activities and pumpkins daily through Halloween. The patch is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the lawn of the Lewiston First United Methodist Church and features more than 1,000 pumpkins of all sizes, gourds, corn stalks and more. Activities include a story-time tent, wagon rides and photo stations. Donate two cans of food and get $1 off your pumpkin. Canned food collected will be donated to the local food bank. The church is at 1906 Broadview Drive.
A free night of spooky fun for kids ages 5 to 12 is Friday at Pioneer Park in Lewiston. From 5 to 7 p.m. kids can bring their own pumpkin and Lewiston Parks and Recreation Recreation Mobile will provide tools for carving, spooky music and games. Kids are invited to come in costume.
Church of the Nativity in Lewiston will offer free Nativity Pumpkin Carving Friday at the church. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner provided at 5:30 p.m. The church, at 731 Eighth St., will provide pumpkins to carve and decorate. Costumes are encouraged.
The Boo Bash carnival is Friday night at the Asotin County Family Aquatic Center. From 6 to 8 p.m. there will be games, contests and prizes. Costumes are encouraged. Admission is $5 per family.
Pumpkin Palooza is from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in downtown Lewiston. The annual free fall festival will include games, crafts, costume contests and a market, along with the Great Pumpkin Roll, First Responders Chili Cook-Off and live music by the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers Association. A new addition this year is a Harvest Carnival along Main Street stretching from Town Square to New Sixth Street with a dozen games, candy and prizes. The event takes the place of the former Main Street Trick-Or-Treat. The Great Pumpkin Roll is from noon to 4 p.m. on the Fifth Street grade. Those with pumpkins that go in the chute will be entered into a $500 cash prize drawing. The market will take place between Third and Fifth streets and feature local produce, honey, cider and handmade items. The Lewiston Fire Department will defend its title at the First Responders Chili Cook-Off. People can vote for their favorite from 1 to 2 p.m., with the winner announced at 4 p.m. in Brackenbury Square. Costume contests will have six categories: baby, child, teen, adult, group and spooky pooch. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges based on creativity and attention to detail, and will receive a prize bag and a trophy. Participants may sign up at the information booth in Brackenbury Square.
The Elks’ Halloween Party is from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Lewiston Elks Temple. The event includes music by Katz Band and a costume contest with prizes. Costumes are not required. Admission is by donation to one of the Elks’ fundraisers. A potato bar with ghoulish desserts is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and costs $8. Dinner reservations are also available by calling the Elks office at (208) 743-5591.
The veteran LA rock band Buckcherry headlines the Rock the Valley Music Fest Halloween Bash Saturday at Boomers Garden in Lewiston. The band is known for the 2006 songs “Crazy Bitch” and “Sorry.” Gates open at 3 p.m. with music from 4 to 10 p.m., rain or shine. The festival also features Sebastian Bach, the original voice of Skid Row; the Wilde, Garden of Eden and Unconfined. There will be a Sexy Lady Costume Contest at 6 p.m. with cash prizes. Tickets are $35-$50 and available online at Flavorus.com/Buckcherry.
A Halloween Party at MJ Barleyhoppers in Lewiston will feature a costume contest and dancing to music played by a deejay Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
A community Trick or Treat will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston. The home is at 821 21st Ave.
Clarkston's Sixth Street Trick or Treat is from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday downtown. A costume contest is at 4.
OROFINO
A Halloween Party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. will feature the Hitmen performing Saturday at The Shot Glass in Orofino. The party is for ages 21 and up and features a costume contest at 238 Johnson Ave.
Trick or Treat Rockin the Streets takes place Monday in downtown Orofino. Local businesses along Johnson Avenue will open their doors and offer treats for costumed kids at this free event starting at 5 p.m.
