In her latest book of poetry, “American Amnesiac,” Idaho Writer in Residence Diane Raptosh takes an average Joe, gives him amnesia, and makes him a modern-day seer into the complexities of being an American. Through his monologue the reader journeys through corporate corruption, race, unemployment, philosophy, Internet culture, music, and the bloated prison system — just to name a few issues. The book was longlisted for the 2013 National Book Award for poetry.
Raptosh will read from her work at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at BookPeople of Moscow, 521 S. Main St. She teaches literature and creative writing at the College of Idaho, where she also directs the Criminal Justice Studies program.
