Here are the Independence Day activities for 2016 in the Inland 360 region.
Lewiston-Clarkston Valley
LEWISTON -- Historical interpreters in period costume will bring to life residents of Lewiston’s past at Walking with Ancestors on Monday. Tours start at 9 a.m. and will be in the IOOF division of the Normal Hill Cemetery and last 20 to 30 minutes. People should bring chairs to sit in. The last tour starts at 10:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Twin Rivers Genealogy Society. Lewiston historian Steven Branting will also be presenting and there will be an information booth on genealogy research methods.
LEWISTON -- The free Old Fashioned Fourth of July Family Fun Day is noon to 4 p.m. Monday at Pioneer Park. There will be children’s games and activities, food vendors and rides on a stagecoach and vintage fire truck. The Lewiston Community Band will perform patriotic classics starting at 4:30 p.m.
LEWISTON -- The reconstructed Idaho First Territorial Capitol Building will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. Historical interpreters will be available. Admission is free. The museum is at the corner of 12th and Main streets.
CLARKSTON -- The Asotin County Family Aquatic Center will offer half price daily admission Monday for youth, seniors and military. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1603 Dustan Loop.
CLARKSTON -- Fireworks will go off over Adams Filed in Clarkston at 10:10 p.m. Monday.
On the Palouse
JOHNSON -- The annual Johnson Fourth of July Parade starts at 10 a.m. Monday here and features an array of zany floats. People should plan to arrive much earlier for parking and seating.
MOSCOW -- Independence Day celebrations from noon to 1 p.m. Monday begin with the presentation of colors, Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem and a reading of the Declaration of Independence in Friendship Square. After that, Moscow dogs will parade in red, white and blue in the annual Mutt Strut.
PULLMAN -- Independence celebrations start at 5 p.m. at Sunnyside Park and will feature a variety of barbecue and desserts, live music and a fireworks show. At 5:30 p.m. the Community Band of the Palouse will perform. A flag ceremony is at 6. Pullman folk singer Dan Maher plays at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Fabulous Kingpins with rock renditions. Food and novelty gifts will be for sale. There will be an inflatable kids area with $1 admission. No dogs, alcohol or personal fireworks are allowed. Pullman Transit will offer a holiday bus schedule. Fireworks are at 10:10 p.m.
Beyond
OROFINO -- The All American Fourth of July starts at 4 p.m. Monday at Orofino City Park with the Rotary barbecue. Adult beverages will be for sale. The band Peacemaker plays at 7 p.m. Fireworks are at 10:10 p.m.
GRANGEVILLE -- Grangeville Border Days continues Monday with an 11 a.m. Kiddies Parade. Sign up is at 10 a.m. at the post office. Other activities include the rodeo, Art in the Park and museum tours. Fireworks are at 10 p.m. at the football field.
ELK RIVER -- A Community fireworks displays will take place 9:45 p.m. Saturday at Elk River at the air strip in the middle of town with food on sale starting at 6 p.m. during Thunder in the Mountains.
WINCHESTER: Fireworks are at 10 p.m. Saturday in Winchester.
