CREATIVE AIRPLANE with artist Bobbi Kelly: Kids will first fold a paper airplane (that's the easy part), then using markers, ink, colored pencil and/or crayons, they will draw an original design on all sides of the plane. Designs might be something realistic, such as sky and clouds, lightning bolts, hearts and flowers, birds or animals, people or superheroes. Or they might be abstract swirls and patterns, or geometric designs--whatever the young artists can imagine. The last step will be to take the airplanes outside and see how well they fly!
JIM DINE HEARTS with art educator Tiffany Gerl: During this session the kids will be introduced to the American Pop artist Jim Dine, who created the abstract blue heart sculpture on the WSU campus. They will then create an abstract pop art heart with oil pastels.
