Dave Ostrom took this shot of a Bald Eagle sitting in a tree at Higgins Landing, Lake Coeur D'Alene on November 21st. There are many Eagles and it is wonderful to see then each year.

1-1-2022- Local herd of deer routinely visit our backyard in the Cougar Ridge area to eat our shrubbery. In the wintertime they bed down here for the night! It's not unusual to look out our backyard window to see up to 20 deer sleeping 10-15 feet from our back patio. It's a beautiful sight!

These were the first Buttercups on Kamiak Butte that I've seen this year. They are always a sure sign of spring. Photographed by Dave Ostrom on the ridge of Kamiak Butte on March 18, 2021.
I hiked up Paradise Ridge on the morning of March 15th and found many Sagebrush Buttercups in bloom. To me blooming Buttercups are a sure sign of spring.
While hiking a Paradise Ridge on Friday, March 15th, I found this special Sagebrush Buttercup which is shown in a closeup and magnified view. The flower has ten petals rather than the five that I am used to seeing. Through a search of the web I found that this is possible but rarely seen.
Palouse Land Trust had a great day with volunteers spreading gravel on the Penstemon Path hiking/biking trail on Moscow Mountain. Shown is the great view with volunteers working on spreading gravel to tame the mud on the trail. This was taken on the morning of December 22nd.
