Lentil fest returns with free chili, live music, parade

The National Lentil Festival gets underway at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, in Pullman with free lentil chili from the world's largest bowl of chili and live music from several local artists.

Most of the two-day festival’s events take place on Spring Street and in Reaney Park, including cooking demonstrations at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the park, followed at 4 p.m. by the “Legendary Lentil Cook-off.”

Saturday’s events start at 11 a.m. with the event’s traditional parade in downtown Pullman, followed by live music beginning at noon.

More than 4,500 bowls of lentil chili were served at the 2019 event, the last time it was held.

Several food vendors as well as area breweries and wineries are set to be on hand for this year’s event.
