Lewiston's Alive After Five street fair starts Wednesday

Summer starts Wednesday in downtown Lewiston with the first Alive After Five event of 2012. A beer garden, trolley rides with a history guide, and live music are just a few of the activities to expect.

The free street fair is from 5-8 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month, May-August.

The fair includes extended business hours at many downtown businesses, and food and craft vendors lining the Main Street from Fifth Street to New Sixth Street. There will be many free activities for children.

Entertainment May 16 begins at 5 p.m. with the Grantham Marimba Band; followed by the Lewis-Clark State College Jazz Band from 6-8 p.m. on the main stage in Brackenbury Square.

A new activity this summer is $1 trolley rides, provided by Idaho History Tours. Event attendees can take a short tour of historic downtown Lewiston, complete with tour guide. The trolley will pick up and drop off at next to the D Street Parking Lot, across the street from Brackenbury Square.

The "Prize Passport" is a new initiative that encourages event attendees to visit downtown businesses who extend their store hours for the event. Those who receive five stamps on their "passport" during the May 16 event will be entered to win a drawing for $50 cash prize.

The event is sponsored by Beautiful Downtown Lewiston.
