Local horror and thriller authors will discuss their work and sign books at “Fear and Dread in the Pacific Northwest,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at And Books Too in Clarkston.
Authors include Brian Knight of Clarkston, Al Halsey of Lewiston, T.J. Tranchell of Moscow and Khaliela Wright of Potlatch.
Knight is the author of “Broken Angel,” the story of a girl found at a roadside dinner outside Clearwater, Idaho, with no memory, who inspires the community to violence and madness. Other books he will present include “Hacks,” “Dragonfly” and “Feral.”
Halsey is a graduate of Lewis-Clark State College and has worked for Northwest Children’s Home for more than 25 years. He has written “Mists of the Miskatonic,” tales inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, and a paranormal western about a Roman Catholic bounty hunter searching for monsters in Montana’s Hellgate Valley called “Hellgate, Montana.”
Tranchell has a master’s degree in literature from Central Washington University and is the author of “Cry Down Dark,” about a man obsessed with his dead love. He buys her childhood home believing she’ll come back to him. He watches the nearby cemetery but the locals have secrets they don’t want revealed. Tranchell’s most recent book, “Asleep in the Nightmare Room” is a collection of short stories, essays and poems about living tattoos, a strange karaoke host, a vengeful widow, a salesman not that interested in making a sale, and more.
Wright grew up in Sandpoint and attended University of Idaho and Washington State University and teaches at Spokane Falls Community College. Her book “Dystopia” is a collection of short stories and poems written, edited and compiled by her students.
Janus Melina will also sign books. The store is at 918 Sixth St., Clarkston.
