That’s how Marie Dymkoski describes the Palouse Music Festival that takes place Saturday at Palouse City Park. Dymkoski is an event coordinator for the long-standing community event.
“It’s one of the most beautiful days in the park,” Dymkoski said.
Besides an idyllic setting, the festival features a lineup of Palouse area musicians, food and craft vendors and a beer garden. Miriam Kent will provide activities for kids and the park itself has a number of attractions for all ages, including horseshoes, basketball court and the city pool. Festivalgoers can browse local shops and restaurants and some may choose to camp overnight in a nearby recreational vehicle park.
While the festival’s music styles run all over the spectrum, those performing have one thing in common — they’re all from the region.
“There’s so much interesting local musical talent,” said Paul Smith, who coordinates music for the event. With so many options, he said, they have yet to run out of good music to feature.
This year’s performers include:
- Shiloh, singing country favorites while playing her guitar
- Dan Maher, described by Smith as a Pullman “folk legend"
- The Elusives, a Moscow-based Americana band comprised of a rotating group of musicians; they specialize in improvised acoustics
- Effie and the Echoes, a group of four Palouse acapella singers
- Sesitshaya, a long-standing marimba band
- Dan Faller and the Working Poor, country band performing favorite country covers and originals
