Cora Nelson reacts as she sees her Leo-inspired makeup.

Capricorns are the hard workers of the zodiac. They are ambitious, strong and, my favorite descriptor, the adults of the zodiac. Is that the reason I was not able to find a model for this month? Possibly.

Capricorns often take themselves a little too seriously, but they are

the most loyal and ambitious of the zodiac.

My choice for you Capricorns would be a very wearable, and practical, everyday makeup look. Go for a bronzed eye with a light shimmer, and a small lash popped on  the outer corner. The lips should be neutral.

As we wrap up this cycle of Makeup with the Stars, I’m taking this opportunity to reflect on the year with Inland 360. Editor Mary Stone and I sat together and enjoyed coffee at this time last year, discussing a vision for getting you, our readers, involved with the column — and I personally think it couldn’t have gone any better.

I describe myself as an “alternative makeup artist.” Particularly, I’m not afraid of color, and my main goal this year was to show how to create wearable looks, using makeup for self-expression, both with very little and a lot of color. A common phrase I heard from my models was “I have never done anything like this.” And then after the transformation they would say something like, “Wow! I would have never done this — I love it.”

The volunteer models arrived at my studio having no idea what I planned to do, and I didn’t tell them. Some would notice the eyeshadow pans I dipped into and give me a concerned look because the col ors were out of the ordinary for them. Later, models who’d seen bold looks in previous columns would sit in my chair and giddily ask, “What colors are we doing?”

I met so many amazing people, formed relationships with the models by getting them out of their comfort zones and showed readers some of my favorite makeup styles. I also challenged myself a few times by pairing colors I normally wouldn’t have chosen, inspired by the monthly zodiac prompt.

Thank you so much to those who engaged with the column and especially to my models.

I’m excited to show you what I have in store for next year.
