Nimiipuu-WSU panel discussion

Surfacing Nimiipuu traditional knowledge on the Plateau Peoples’ web portal: Join us the Spalding Visitor Center for a panel presentation about the collaboration between the Nez Perce Tribe’s Cultural Resources Program and Washington State University to interpret Nimiipuu material culture associated with the 1877 Nez Perce War. Panelists Nakia Williamson, director of the Nez Perce Tribe’s Cultural Resources Program; Trevor Bond, associate dean, WSU Libraries; and WSU students Nakia Cloud, Ila Pinkham and Payton Sobotta will share their work to preserve and expand traditional Nimiipuu knowledge through the objects, documents, and photographs of the Lucullus V. McWhorter Collection. Audio and video interpretations produced by the panelists and informed by Nimiipuu language and archival sources are available online through the Plateau People’s Web Portal: Nez Perce National Historical Park’s Spalding Visitor Center is located 12 miles east of Lewiston at 39063 U.S. Highway 95.
