‘Pickwick Papers’ coming to Kenworthy

Stage reading is part of the ‘What the Dickens?’ series by APOD Productions

Samuel Pickwick and his friends misadventure through the English countryside, encountering a litany of memorably comical characters in APOD Productions’ coming performance of “The Pickwick Papers.”

The show, presented as a stage reading with music by a string ensemble and live foley sound effects, opens at 7 p.m. next Thursday, March 30, at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre.

“We’ve been producing plays and musicals on the Palouse since 2011 and are thrilled to be offering our first show at the Kenworthy,” APOD Director Todd Payne said in a news release. “We’re excited to perform right in the heart of the Moscow community and pave the way for our big spring musical, ‘Oliver!’ ”

The show is part of the nonprofit APOD Productions’ “What the Dickens?” season featuring shows based on Dickens’ classic novels, including “Oliver!” set for June 9-17.
