Signing his book "Love and the Lookout — A Tale of Adventure, Mystery, and Love." Dagny Murphy, an environmental lawyer from Seattle, goes to visit her friend working at Oregon Butte, a remote Forest Service lookout in the backcountry of the Umatilla National Forest in southeastern Washington state. At the lookout, her friend has been replaced by a man — TC Porter — who invites her to stay. After saving the lookout and themselves from a wildfire on the third night of her stay, Dagny's car is destroyed in the fire and the two journey to Seattle to find her a new car. Thus begins a tale of murder, mystery and falling in love.
