Top 10 Halloween events lumbering your way this week

Zombies, spooky pooches, haunted houses and enough candy to terrify a horde of dentists are in store this Wednesday for Halloween. Cool and wet weather are predicted.

LEWISTON

1. Downtown Lewiston Trick or Treat is from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday.  The event is free. Beautiful Downtown Lewiston coordinates the event with help from downtown businesses who participate by dressing in costume and welcoming trick-or-treaters. Due to construction, Main Street will remain open to traffic this year. Steps are being taken to maintain a high level of safety for families, including extra traffic conest, a speed detecting device, new signage, and trained volunteers to help people cross the road safely. Drivers are highly encouraged to keep their speed low and to be aware that children will be present. A Spooky Pooch Parade is at 5:30 p.m. in Brackenbury Square. The Lewiston Firefighters will be parked on Fifth between Main and D Streets. Spookin’ Boos Haunted House, at 600 Main St.,  will have a children's time from 3-5 p.m. Admission is $1 for kids. Adult hours, and horrors, will return from 6-9 p.m. when admission is $3. Proceeds will go to the Lewiston Food Bank and the Lewiston Library Foundation.

2. The Lewiston Center Mall will hold its annual Mall-O-Ween from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. Kids in costume are invited to trick or treat at the mall’s stores. Special Olympics athletes will be helping hand out candy.

3. The Clearwater Corn Maze at the Lewiston Roundup Grounds will have a Haunted Halloween Maze 6-10 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is $5. Kids four and younger are free.

4. The haunted house Nightmare on Grelle Avenue is open 6-10 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is $10 per person. Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older. On Halloween night the lights will be turned on and the terror turned down so younger children can walk through and trick or treat. The building is at 2621 Grelle Ave. Tickets are available at Hot Shots coffee stands, Rosauers, all Potlatch No. 1 Federal Credit Union locations and Zions Bank in the Lewiston Orchards.

MOSCOW

5. There will be games, candy and more from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Eastside Marketplace where kids are invited to trick or treat.

6. The University of Idaho’s annual Tubaween concert is 7:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The festive production put on by university students features high energy tuba playing in a combination of solos, duets and ensemble recitals. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in costumes. A prize for best costume will be awarded. Admission is free but donations are encouraged.

7. The Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre will screen the cult classic "Night of the Living Dead" at 7 p.m. Wednesday. In the film, radiation from a fallen satellite might have caused the recently deceased to rise from the grave and seek the living to use as food.

OROFINO

8. From 5-8 p.m. Wednesday is the Trick or Treat Rocking the Street celebration on Johnson Avenue. With candy and contests more than 40 businesses will participate in the new event sponsored by the Orofino Chamber of Commerce. The event is free. Children should be accompanied by an adult. There will be a mini haunted house in the Rex Theatre and other attractions.

9. The event coincides with the annual Kings Truck or Treat from 3-6 p.m. in the Kings parking lot. The best decorated vehicle will win a $50 gift card. Kings will have a costume contest. First place wins a bicycle.

10. The Clearwater Youth Alliance will hold its annual Halloween Carnival from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Orofino Junior High School gymnasium. The carnival is for infants to sixth-graders.
