Two-day camp offers hands-on experience with nature, crafts — and horses

A two-day camp in Troy for youths 12-19 years old promises crafts, nature activities and —

most of all — horses.

Building the Fire Within runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 16-17, at Judy’s Trail, off McKeehan Road, and Shady Grove Farm, on Sumner Road.

Attendees will learn how to use their intuition while building confidence through hands-on horse experience, according to a news release from Idaho Firewise, which organized the event with Ashley Fielder of Shady Grove Farms.

Snacks and beverages are provided; campers bring their own lunch. Participants are asked to bring masks for instances when 6-foot social distancing standards cannot be maintained.
