Singers from throughout Washington and Idaho will present this free choral concert on Washington State University's Pullman campus. The concert is a part of a fellowship awarded to Dean Luethi (WSU School of Music faculty) by the David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities at WSU. For three days before the concert, 23 professional and semi-professional singers will gather in Pullman to rehearse and record choral works from Washington composers. Two composers were commissioned to write works specifically for this project. These composers will be part of the recording process and discuss their compositions during the concert before their performance. Conductors include Dean Luethi and Matthew Myers (WSU School of Music faculty) and the collaborative pianist will be WSU staff member Elena Panchenko. For more information on the project, including the biographies of the commissioned composers John Muehleisen and Jacob Malpocker, visit music.wsu.edu/washington-sings-a-recording-project.
