Image: Members of the 2017 Gritman Medical Center LC Valley Down and Dirty Mud Run board, key volunteers and representatives of Opportunities Unlimited, Inc., Willow Center, Inc., YWCA, the Gritman Diabetes Awareness Fund and the Centennial Project Food gather Wednesday at the Lewiston Tribune building in Lewiston. The mud run made $5,000 donations to Opportunities Unlimited, Inc., Willow Center, Inc., YWCA and the Gritman Diabetes Awareness Fund, and a $2,500 donation to Centennial Project Food. The money was raised through business donations and participant fees for the annual mud run, which took place Aug. 26 in Lewiston. This year's race drew a record 552 paid competitors. The 2018 mud run is scheduled for August, with exact date to be announced. For more on the race, check http://lcvdownanddirty.com/ or find the event page on Facebook.

Image: Richard Wesson of Pullman submitted this photo of a bobcat that he had just chased from his chicken pen, a chicken hanging from its mouth. Wesson lives across the river and railroad tracks from SYG Nursery about a mile from downtown Pullman. Earlier this spring Wesson said a red fox got nine of his chickens. He said he only used to worry about coyotes, dogs and birds of prey.
