Versatility, good original material and a tight, polished sound. That’s what Bare Wires, is known for, says lead singer Doug Lind.
The Moscow blues-rock band is releasing its third album, “Sanctuary Highway,” at the Moscow Farmers Market on Saturday.
The new album showcases the band’s versatility. The album leans toward a blues or classic rock sound, but it includes mellow love songs, ballads and even a bit of funk and Latin, according to a news release from the band. That variety is a natural result of each band member contributing to the writing.
“We wanted this to be an album where every song doesn’t sound the same, and I believe we accomplished our goal,” Lind says in the news release.
Besides the variety in sound, the album covers a range of themes. The title song, “Sanctuary Highway,” is about a man on his Harley who is experiencing the freedom of getting out on the highway and leaving everything behind. “Two Divided by None” is a mellow love song and “Lasting Memories” is about someone who is learning to go on after their spouse has passed away.
It’s been five years since the band has released an album and for good reason — its members have changed in time.
“When you switch up members like that, it takes you a while to get back on your feet and reinvent what kind of sound you’re going to have,” Lind says.
Bare Wires is comprised of Lind on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Axel Krings on lead guitar and vocals, Dave Graham on bass guitar and vocals and Tom Garrett on percussion and vocals. The new album features two guest performers, Cathy Brinkerhoff and Jon Anderson.
Saturday’s performance will include songs from their new album along with others; CDs of both the new and previous album will be available for purchase, along with T-shirts.
