COTTONWOOD A historians presentation about an Idaho horsewoman will be given at 7 tonight at the Monastery of St. Gertrude here, 465 Keuterville Road.
The program, Queen of Diamonds: Kittie Wilkins, Horse Queen of Idaho and the Wilkins Horse Company, will be presented by Philip A. Homan in the Johanna Room at Spirit Center.
The free event is part of the 15th annual Fall Lecture Series presented by the historical museum at St. Gertrude.
A native of the Lewiston area, Kittie Wilkins was the boss of the Wilkins Horse Company, owning 10,000 range-bred horses, all branded with her famous Diamond brand, according to a news release. She was the only woman at the turn of the 20th century whose sole occupation was horse dealer.
Homan is an associate professor at the Idaho State Universitys Eli M. Oboler Library in Pocatello. He is a frequent presenter at library conferences, and a contributor to Idaho Magazine. He received an Idaho Humanities Council research fellowship and is writing the first biography of Kittie Wilkins.

LEWISTON Juvie, Jerome McDonoughs tale of teenagers in juvenile detention on a Saturday night, opens at 7 tonight in the Lewiston High School auditorium.
The production will continue with the same curtain time Friday, Saturday, next Thursday and Oct. 24-25.
LHS drama students play the inmates and guards of Juvie, which is directed by Beth F. Atkinson, drama teacher.
Each inmate tells the story of his or her crime and waits for the consequences, according to a news release. Jean, played by senior Emily Howell, is a girl arrested for burglary who speaks up to defend the weaker inmates from the verbal attacks of Pinky, the drug-dealer played by sophomore Alex Dietz. Andy, the incompetent played by senior Thomas Pearson, appreciates Jeans defense as others like Skip, the drunk driver played by senior Sheldon Hall, join forces with Pinky in attacking others.
The rest of the cast includes seniors Kyan Bedwell, Mardee Chambers, Nathan Creitz, Nick Freitas, Ian Pecoff, Lynsey Fenter, Ethan Coy, and Rhea-Mae Watson; juniors Emily Browne, Shyann Hale, Emily Hamlin, Aidan Walsh; and sophomores Faith Bigler, Emily Blair, Madi Elzea, Jade Fischer, Zach Griffin, Hannah Seale and Theron White.
Admission at the door is $5 regular price, $4 for senior citizens and students grades seven through college and $1 for all LHS activity card holders and children.

CLARKSTON The Fall Valley Bluegrass Stage concert will be 7 p.m. Saturday in the Clarkston High School auditorium.
Five bands from around this region will play this show, presented by the Lewis-Clark Bluegrass Organization.
Cost is $5 at the door.
The auditorium is at 401 Chestnut St.

PULLMAN Fourteen high school choirs from throughout Washington and Idaho will participate in the 21st annual daylong choral festival Saturday in Kimbrough Hall at Washington State University.
Performances throughout the day are free, as is the closing concert at 5 p.m. in Bryan Hall.
During the festival, WSU music faculty assist high school programs in providing an early, motivational opportunity for musical growth in a non-competitive, positive learning environment. Choir performances and workshops continue through the day and directors meet to discuss goals and objectives.
High school participants will hear performances by the WSU Opera Workshop, University Singers and VoJazz. WSU faculty Lori Wiest, Julie Anne Wieck, Sheila Converse, Dean Luethi and Brian Carter will serve as clinicians.
The evening concert will include four high school choirs selected during the day as well as the WSU Madrigal/Chamber Singers and Concert Choir.
The WSU Concert Choir will perform Cantate Domino by Claudio Monteverdi, Jesu, Dulcis Memoria by 20th century French composer Pierre Villette, Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal arranged by contemporary composer Alice Parker and Evening Prayer by contemporary Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo featuring WSU School of Music faculty member David Hagelganz on tenor saxophone and graduate student Alberto Ferro on piano.

CLARKSTON The annual Tri-State Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Salad Bar Luncheon will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church here, 1242 Highland Ave.
Cost is $6 at the door and musical entertainment will be provided by the Inland Harmony Chapter of Sweet Adelines. All proceeds will benefit the Tri-State Hospital Auxiliary.
